The story

小雨：大卫，快来！视频开始了。今天我们跟爸妈商量婚礼的事。David, quick! The video call's starting. Today we're talking the wedding over with our parents.

大卫：日子已经有了，四月十八号，王老师帮我们选的。We already have the date: April 18th. Teacher Wang picked it for us.

小雨：她说十八号最好。为什么？因为她十八岁嘛。She says the eighteenth is best. Why? Because she's eighteen, of course.

爸爸：你们好！我们这儿是早上六点……我先喝杯咖啡。Hi, everyone! It's six in the morning here... let me have a coffee first.

妈妈：我只有一个小时，医院随时会找我。包子呢？我先看看包子！I've only got an hour — the hospital could call me any minute. Where's Baozi? Let me see Baozi first!

小雨妈妈：我先说我的意见。女儿嫁人，要用中国的方式！I'll give my opinion first. Our daughter's getting married — it should be done the Chinese way!

小雨妈妈：新娘穿红的。早上新郎来接新娘，还要放鞭炮！The bride wears red. In the morning the groom comes to fetch the bride, and there are firecrackers!

妈妈：我的意见不一样。我觉得美国的方式更好。My opinion is different. I think the American way is better.
