The story

小雨：乐乐，上初一了！中学怎么样？Lele, first year of middle school! How is it?

乐乐：每个星期都有测试。这个星期是阅读测试。There's a test every single week. This week it was a reading test.

大卫：阅读测试？你及格了吗？A reading test? Did you pass?

乐乐：及格了！六十一分！六十分就及格，多一分真浪费。I passed! Sixty-one! Sixty's a pass, so that extra point was a real waste.

乐乐：可是老师说，字我都认识，就是不会运用。But the teacher says I know all the characters, I just can't put them to use.

大卫：我懂！学过的东西，我也总是不会运用。I get that! I can never put what I've learned to use either.

小雨：大卫，你发现了吗？他渐渐长大了，也渐渐不调皮了。David, have you noticed? He's gradually growing up, and gradually getting less naughty.

大卫：对！他今天进门说“您好”，也没拉包子的尾巴。Yes! He came in today and said "how do you do", and he didn't pull Baozi's tail.
